HONOLULU, HI, May 5, 2020
Mauna Loa proudly kicks off the ALL4HAWAII Challenge, a digital fundraiser in an effort to provide food for those in need here in the Islands. The Challenge will benefit Hawaii Foodbank (a member of Feeding America) and Maui Food Bank, and through the generosity of Foodland, each of these organizations will also receive grocery gift cards to enable their recipients to continue to shop for their families in a retail environment.
“We’re happy to help our local community in a way that’s uplifting on multiple levels,” says Ed Schultz, President and CEO of Hawaiian Host Group. “And with kama‘aina like Max, Carissa and Shane Victorino generously donating their time and expertise — not only for their fans, but also with the purpose of helping those going through an extra difficult time during this COVID-19 environment — it’s a reminder that we are, in fact, all in this together.”
Through the ALL4HAWAII Challenge, some of Hawai‘i’s favorite personalities in the realms of sports, fashion, and entertainment have come together to donate their time and, for some, a prized possession or two. They were asked to create one-of-a-kind experiences in an effort to raise funds for the cause.
“So much has changed in the last few weeks and it’s changing so fast. We rely on tourism in Hawai‘i so it’s going to be a long ride,” shares UFC champ Max Holloway. “All4HAWAII is focused on getting food to the people who need it, and my team and I are happy to work with Mauna Loa and be part of it. It’s just one first step for us, and we’re going to continue to look for ways we can help out.”
The concept is simple: People have a chance to win these unique experiences through making donations which provide them with a number of entries. The program is scheduled to run until May 31. One-hundred percent of all proceeds from this initiative will go to the two Foodbanks.
“Hawaii Foodbank and Maui Food Bank are extremely grateful and humbled to be the beneficiaries of the ALL4HAWAII Challenge,” says Ron Mizutani, President and CEO of Hawaii Foodbank. “We want to thank Hawaiian Host Group and all of our local celebrities and athletes who are taking part in this innovate initiative, for their time, efforts and hearts, to help raise funds to further support our emergency relief efforts. The face of hunger is ever-evolving and the ripple of effect of the current pandemic has triggered unprecedented needs in our communities. Hawaii Foodbank is on pace to distribute 3 million pounds of food in the month of May. The ALL4HAWAII Challenge will be a difference making initiative.”
